About ImmersiLearn Video
Our Mission
ImmersiLearn Video empowers anyone to quickly and easily create green screen (chroma key) and AI-based background removal videos with custom background images, while maintaining privacy and simplicity. We believe in making advanced educational technology tools accessible to everyone, without the need for downloads or cloud processing.
What is ImmersiLearn Video?
ImmersiLearn Video is a web app for live webcam background removal. It supports both chroma key (green/blue screen) and AI-based background removal, letting you replace your background with a custom image, blur, or solid color. Everything runs in your browser, with no uploads or privacy worries.
Features
- Live webcam preview and background removal
- Chroma key (green/blue screen) and AI (MediaPipe) modes
- Upload custom backgrounds, blur, or pick a solid color
- Snapshot and video recording/download
- Mask smoothing, color presets, and advanced controls
- All processing is private and in-browser
- Modern, accessible UI (Next.js, Shadcn UI)
Who is it for?
ImmersiLearn Video is for educators, students, presenters, and anyone who wants to enhance their video presence with privacy and ease. No technical skills required - just open in your browser and go!
How it Works
The app uses your webcam feed and processes it in real time using chroma keying or AI segmentation (MediaPipe SelfieSegmentation). You can adjust settings, pick backgrounds, and download snapshots or recordings - all without leaving your browser or uploading any video data. Note: AI background removal is dependent on the performance of your device.
About the Project
ImmersiLearn Video was created as part of the Wales Collaborative for Learning Design (WCLD) project in partnership with Wrexham University. The project aims to make immersive media tools accessible and private for everyone. Built with Next.js, MediaPipe, and shadcn/ui, it's open source and welcomes contributions and feedback.
The WCLD project provides interdisciplinary perspectives on technologies in learning and teaching across Wales, in addition to providing advice, support and professional development for educators informed by ongoing research.
